Dr Mackenzie Graham, Senior Research Fellow: Imaging & Data Ethics
Dr Mackenzie Graham is a Senior Researcher with the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities, and the Junior Research Fellow in the Humanities at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.
Mackenzie’s research interests are in moral philosophy and bioethics. Prior to joining NCIMI, Mackenzie worked with neuroscientists studying ‘covert awareness’ in patients with disorders of consciousness, to address some of the ethical questions that the discovery of these patients raises.
Why NCIMI is important
Working with NCIMI provides another opportunity to investigate an important set of ethical questions occurring at the intersection of technology and medicine. Thinking carefully about these questions is important both to protect and promote the interests of individual patients, but also to help build the kind of health system that we want moving into the future.
Mackenzie’s hobbies
When not working, Mackenzie Graham can be found playing (field) hockey, getting overly excited about watching sports or playing with his dog.
