Dr Claire Bloomfield, CEO
Claire works at the intersections of healthcare research, translation and commercialisation, with experience of working both directly as an academic researcher and also as a senior research professional. Claire’s own research has focused on Neuroscience and she has held research fellowships at Oxford University and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Following her academic research career and before becoming the CEO of NCIMI, Claire spent time working within funding bodies and the University of Oxford, supporting research contracts, governance, ethics, external funding, partnership brokerage and largescale project management. Her latest role in Oxford was the Head of Strategy and Innovation for the Cancer Research UK Centre. Claire’s role placed her at the nexus of cancer activity within the university community and the UK overall, affording unique opportunities to work on cross-departmental and pan-divisional projects resulting in raising more than 350 million pounds to further UK cancer research.
Claire brings her experience as both an academic, and an enabler of others research, to supporting the imaging AI ecosytem to collaborate for increased impact.
Why is NCIMI important
NCIMI is supporting the ecosystem to develop effective collaborations that generate value for all stakeholders. Claire is passionate about the need for collaborative working across different sectors, and finds it rewarding to see the added value different perspectives and expertise can produce in ensuring equity and diversity in both the development and application of healthcare AI.
Claire can normally be found hanging out with her daughter crafting, playing board games or re-watching all the past seasons of West Wing.
