December 8, 2021

Hilal Johnson is a Project Manager at NCIMI. She’s had an exciting and varied career and is now bringing her analytical skills to NCIMI.

What is your job and what does it involve?

I am a project manager at NCIMI and I’m managing all the projects with NHS partners and industry partners, making sure that we are running all the projects smoothly. I also liaise with NHS partners and stakeholders, ensuring that we are delivering all project deliverables.

What do you enjoy most about working with NCIMI?

I’m so happy to be part of NCIMI, I really enjoy my job. It’s such an interesting subject and the team I work with are so helpful and collaborative.

It’s challenging and every day is different. I don’t just work with the internal team, I get to reach out to external stakeholders and meet different people, sometimes working with different industry partners. It’s definitely an interesting role.

What are the greatest challenges within your role?

My background is not clinical studies and I don’t come from a life science background but I have transferable skills in project management that I bring to this role. My biggest challenge is learning the clinical side of the business – but I like this challenge.

What are the key issues for healthcare and AI right now, and in the future?

Probably the ethical requirements, which are important when we’re working on any project. I think this is one of the biggest challenges within AI-related developments.
Also, getting the right clinical data while improving algorithms and developing software for medical devices.

What do you think the future of healthcare AI is?

I believe that Artificial Intelligence will be a game-changer for the industry.

There will be a positive impact on how healthcare professionals work. It will help the decision-maker to improve the patient’s treatment. Also, there will be a faster treatment process when we implement the right artificial intelligence products.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I do yoga and during the pandemic, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training. I also like watching lots of motorsport events and reading. Currently, I’m reading mindfulness and yoga-related books.
